SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — The nonprofit Central Coast Funds for Children hosted an event to raise money for the children of San Luis Obispo.
The “All for the Kidz” fundraising gala kicked off Sunday at the San Luis Obispo Country Club.
The goal is to raise $50,000 for children in San Luis Obispo County.
“I was a teacher and I always thought that children needed a boost,” said association president Marilyn Blake. “So I would see firsthand how some kids who didn’t come from high-achieving families struggled in school.”
The non-profit organization Central Coast Funds for Children has been in existence for 28 years, helping children in SLO County in need.
A total of $2,000,000 has been donated over nearly three decades.
“In 2021, we donated $72,000 to the various organizations,” Blake said.
Many San Luis Obispo County organizations benefited from this fundraiser last year. which includes People’s Self Help Housing, Paso Robles Housing Authority and the Food Bank of SLO.
Silent auctions were held during the event, as well as raffles.
“We’re going to do a live auction and we’ve got great things going on the live auction,” Blake said. “One of them is the wonderful Tuscan house located in a Tuscan area in Vilano, Italy.”
The non-profit organization said it wants to invest in the children of SLO County.
“If we don’t take care of our children now, things will look sad in the future because they are our future,” Blake said.
