Magna Hoedown online auction benefits 30 community charities

The online auction has over 100 items available to bid on until September 10

The annual Magna Hoedown Silent Auction is now underway in support of the event’s 30 beneficiaries, including several organizations in Newmarket.

The online auction, which runs until September 10, features more than 100 items for participants to bid on. As Magna said in a press release, “There’s something for everyone!”

It’s all done online, so once you’ve browsed the available items, you fill in your contact details and credit card details to set your bid.

“You’ll receive notifications when you’ve been outbid, you can note favorites to watch, and even place an automatic maximum bid that increases by the valid bid increment when you’ve been outbid – so you can set it and forget about placing- bookmark it,” Magna said.

All proceeds raised from the auction will support the 30 recipients of this year’s Magna Hoedown Community Fund. A number of this year’s recipients are based in Newmarket, including Cornerstone to Recovery, Newmarket African Caribbean Canadian Association, Newmarket Food Pantry, Newmarket Jets Speed Skating Club, Shenderey Gymnastics Institute, Abuse Hurts and Rose of Sharon.

According to Magna, the recipient organizations’ programs and services collectively help more than 153,000 York Region residents.

To participate in the silent auction, you must text “Hoedown” to 289-216-5901. You will receive a link to view all items available on your phone. Anyone who has questions or needs technical support can contact [email protected]

Magna has chosen not to hold an in-person meeting again this year due to the pandemic and the amount of planning required.
