Woodbury Nature Center Presents Gourmet Picnic Auction August 28

WOODBURY – A special event, Farm to Flanders – The Ultimate Gourmet Picnic & Auction, is scheduled for August 28 at the grounds of the Van Vleck Farm & Nature Sanctuary in Woodbury.

The event features a farm-inspired, multi-course gourmet picnic prepared by renowned chefs and packaged in a reusable cooler bag, sponsored by New Morning Market, to take home, according to a statement. New this year, supporters can choose to attend “Meet, Mingle and More” or “Picnic Your Way”.

“Meet, Mingle & More” attendees will be greeted with a champagne toast courtesy of Drakeley Real Estate at Flanders Sugar House at 4 p.m., with hors d’oeuvres prepared on site and jazz music performed by “Out of orbit”. Litchfield Distillery will brew signature cocktails and Reverie Brewing Co. will provide craft beer.

Picnic Your Way attendees can enjoy their multi-course meal at Flanders South Barn between 12pm and 2pm. These guests are invited to enjoy their meal in one of the seven preserves of Flanders or at home.

Chefs for this year’s event include Coordinating Chefs John Bourdeau of Owl Wine & Food Bar and Carlos Perez of @ the Corner Restaurant & Pub, as well as Michael Bates-Walsh of 1754 House Inn & Restaurant; Dennis DeBellis of John’s Cafe; Derek Dugan of the Lucas Local Oyster Bar; Matt Kirshner of Uncle Matt’s Bakery and Cafe; Ashley Nelson of Sweet Nelsons; Clark Neugold of The Foundry Kitchen & Tavern; Carole Peck of Good News Restaurant and Bar; Chris Prosperi of the Metro Bis restaurant; Karen Rotella and NVCC cooking students.

An auction is also part of this year’s event and is online so anyone can bid. Elements include a three-night stay in Bar Harbor, a week-long vacation to Lake Winnipesaukee, and a getaway to Winvian Farm. To view items and bid, go to

Tickets must be purchased in advance. The cost for “Meet, Mingle & More” is $125 per person and “Picnic Your Way” is $85 per person. Meals are limited.

Additional items are available for purchase, such as a bouquet of flowers, wine from Walker Roads Winery, and spirits from Litchfield Distillery. This event has sold out for the past two years and all are encouraged to purchase their tickets early.

The event is the main fundraiser of the year in Flanders, with all profits going to its mission of environmental education and the preservation and management of open spaces.
