Deweyville schools will auction off old buses and other items

Deweyville ISD is selling items no longer used in the district, including eight buses, among others.

The district is conducting a closed bidding process for items that can be viewed, with bids being accepted at the district maintenance building through Thursday.

Offers will be accepted July 25, 27-28 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and July 26 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

In addition to the buses, the district sells a Bobcat utility vehicle, a low bed trailer and an old band trailer.

Deweyville ISD Acting Superintendent LaJuan Addison said in an email Monday that most of the items have been in use for the past five years or so but are no longer of use to the district.

She said none of the vehicles were in working order and that a stipulation of purchase is that the new owner is responsible for removing the items from the district’s property.

According to the auction form, items must be paid for by August 5 in cash or check and winning bidders must have their items picked up during regular business hours at the end of business on August 12. Failure to meet either requirement will render the winning bid null and void.

Money from the sale of the items will go to the district general fund as supplemental revenue, Addison said.
