Annual Dinner and Auction to Benefit St. Francis House

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) – St. Francis House plays an important role in the community, helping people move from homelessness to hope. On average, the association helps between 450 and 550 people per year.

Todd Hastings has been a guest at St. Francis House for nearly a year.

Since he’s been here, his life has changed dramatically.

“I’m doing great, I’m so happy to be here, my depression is down, I’m happy, smiling, sober and I don’t really want to leave,” said guest Todd Hastings.

Hastings is grateful for the support he has received.

On July 25, he will be honored with the Instrument of Hope award at the organization’s evening annual dinner and auction.

“Being where I was and getting an award makes you feel good and makes you want to keep going,” Hastings said.

The event not only celebrates the successes of the guests, but the money raised on Monday will go directly to Maison Saint-François.

“100% of that will come back here to help with day-to-day operations, to help feed our guests, house our guests and meet their individual needs,” said St. Francis House Executive Director Julie Becker.

People still have the option of getting tickets for the event.

“There is no cost for tickets as our wonderful corporate sponsors cover the cost of the venue,” Becker said.

An event that will help continue to bring hope to guests like Hastings.

“When I was alone, the depression set in a bit, being here, there were a lot of people, and everything became more and more happy, and there are a lot of good role models here, the staff here, everyone is awesome,” Hastings said.

The online auction opened Monday morning with the first 15 packages and more will be added throughout the week. The event takes place on July 25 and begins at 5:30 p.m. If you wish to obtain tickets, you can contact the Maison Saint-François. They must have a final ticket count by Tuesday morning.
