Second Annual MHS Art Auction, March 31

MHS art students show off some of the gift baskets that will be auctioned off at the second annual art auction on March 31. Works of art created by students as well as several local artists are also offered.

Marlow High School art students will be holding their second annual art auction on March 31 from 6-8 p.m. at the MHS Auditorium. The auction preview will take place from 6-6:30 p.m. and the auction will start at 6:30 p.m. During the preview, guests can view the auction items or stroll down the hall to see the artwork on display in Arlyn Brantley’s Art Classes.

The first Art Auction, held in 2021, raised over $6,400 for the MHS Art Program. The funds were used to purchase supplies and pay for ongoing activities, including $3,500 for a new pottery kiln.

“Honestly, I was quite touched and surprised to see so much support in our community,” Brantley said. “I knew our parents cared about our children, but the city as a whole showed overwhelming support. People seemed to love the auction atmosphere as they could bid on works by local students and area artists including Dan Hazel, Spanky Davis, Jolene Lloyd Forbes, Janet Loveless, Ross Ridge and others . I hope people will come back to see the amazing pieces we have auctioned off this year.

Students drew and painted works for sale; local businesses donated Marlow-themed items and gift cards. Special gift baskets will also be available for auction.

Kenny Baker will once again offer his services as an auctioneer for the event.

The program is still accepting donations; contact Arlyn Brantley at 405-201-5014 or email [email protected] for more information
