eBay: Expand eBay Listings Portfolio with Promoted Listings Express

Creating new opportunities for our sellers to further grow their business is a driving force behind everything we do at eBay Ads. We continue to invest heavily in new technologies to make it easier for sellers of all sizes to manage their online business. Last September, we announced the launch of Promoted Listings AdvancedBETA, our new cost-per-click solution for our sponsored ads portfolio. Since then, we’ve taken another big step in expanding the portfolio with the launch of Promoted Listings Express – our first advertising tool for auction listings.

Benefits of Sponsored Ads Express

One of the many benefits of the Marketplace has always been the ability to sell items the way you want, either at a fixed price or through an auction. Where our advertising products have failed is in providing sellers with a way to promote auction listings on our Marketplace – something they have been asking for for a long time. Inspired by seller feedback, we created Promoted Listings Express to help their auction items stand out among the billions of listings on the eBay marketplace. Auctioneers can now leverage the benefits of Sponsored Listings to improve the visibility of their listings and help drive views, bids, and sales.

Simple and easy to understand. Here’s how it works:

  1. List an item for auction. Promoted Listings Express is available to eligible sellers in the US, UK, Germany, Australia, Canada, France, Italy, and Spain who have auction and buy-it-now listings.
  2. Review a single page. It only takes two clicks to adopt Promoted Listings Express. Sellers don’t have to worry about understanding ad rate percentages, keywords, or campaign structures/concepts to promote an auction listing.
  3. Pay an initial fee to promote your ad. One-time selling fees will be displayed prominently on screen and will be based on a variety of factors, including item category and auction duration. After reviewing the fees, sellers can launch their promotion in just two clicks.
  4. Monitor their performance. Sellers can view their Promoted Listings Express listings report on the eBay app to measure the impact of the promotion on their listing’s viewability. This ads report currently displays the total number of impressions, promoted impressions, and organic impressions of the ad.

Promoted Listings Express was first launched exclusively on the eBay app, allowing us to test usability and collect critical feedback from sellers. It has since rolled out to desktop and mobile web, making it easy for sellers to promote their auction listing from any device.

Early seller feedback on Express Sponsored Listings has been positive. eBay seller Eric Mentzel from Ekmentz shared with us that he has seen an increase in views and watchers on his auction listings. “I sell niche items and the item I have on the promotion already has over 400 views and 32 watchers, which is the most I’ve ever had on a post before – it shows me the potential for future posts.”

Over the next few months, we plan to offer more ways for sellers to access Promoted Listings Express and their Listings Report, in addition to expanding placements on eBay. These changes will allow more sellers to take advantage of this improved visibility of their auction items and see the impact of their promotion.
