The Seward County Community College Foundation has announced plans for its annual auction, scheduled for Saturday, September 25. The in-person event with live music, a catered meal, free beer and wine, and silent and live auctions returns after the COVID-19 disruption in 2020 with the theme “Festival of Colors “.
Sarah Thompson, Associate Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Engagement, will lead the Foundation’s auction this year.
âWe have chosen this theme to reflect our community, which is a kaleidoscope of colors, languages, food, music and cultures,â she said. âIt’s also a beautiful coincidence that it is part of Hispanic Heritage Month, so our decorations and theme reflect the beautiful Mexican art and traditions we love here at Liberal.â
Over the years, the auction has grown into a standard local event that gives people the opportunity to have a great night out with a friend while supporting a great cause, Thompson said. The Foundation is currently soliciting contributions for the auction portion of the event.
âThe proceeds from scholarships and college party auction programs and the level of community support through donations is a key factor. “
It’s also fun, Thompson noted.
“We love to see contributions come in, whether it’s handmade quilts, original art, local professional services, it’s a sample of local creativity and entrepreneurship,” she declared.
To donate a new or crafted item, contact the SCCC Foundation office, located in the Student Union mezzanine on the SCCC main campus.
âWe will be happy to stop by your workplace, pick up items or even shop on your behalf with cash donations,â said Thompson.
